Families in need in 3 affected areas by the earthquake (Fushe-Kruje, Lac, Lezhe).
Families of children with visual impairments from “Ramazan Kabashi” Institute.
The earthquake disaster, which occurred in November 2019, adding the global coronavirus pandemic, created a difficult situation not to say chaotic with people who were directly affected by the earthquake.
The main goal of this project is to provide 30 families in 3 areas affected by the earthquake with a special assistance package, such as food, clothing and other utilities.
New Vision through “Together100” program provided facilities for more than 30 families in need. After consultations with representatives of local government, the organization located the families in the affected areas and started to provide them with supply packages. The supply packages were focused primarily on families with young children, mainly those in improvised camps and families of children with visual impairments in the areas affected by the earthquake respectively: Fushe-Kruje, Lac, Lezhe.
In the framework of this project, New Vision started another initiative which was called #Together100 and aims to help 100 families in 3 affected areas by the earthquake.
The whole process was done in collaboration with New Vision’s organizations volunteers, who played an important role in the implementation of the project.
Activity 1: Localization of the families in need from the affected areas.
After several consults with representatives of local government, New Vision located the families in need in the affected areas. The meetings were developed in online mode due to restrictions because of the global pandemic and the social distancing rules. Online meetings were also held with representatives of the Institute of children with visual impairments “Ramazan Kabashi” to locate the families of these children in the respective areas in this project. The located families were registered in the list of persons who would be supplied with the aid packages and were immediately contacted closely by the project coordinator and the volunteers.
Activity 2: Providing the located families with aid packages.
After that the families were contacted closely by the coordinator, they were divided according to the demographic data. Immediately after this action, the distribution of the packages began, providing as a starting point for these families with protective measures against Covid-19 virus such as masks, gloves, disinfectants etc.
Composition of packages:
- A) Food and hygiene products (mainly Albanian products promoting local industry)
- B) Entertainment materials
- C) School materials (mainly audio products, injected various books for children with visual impairment who did not have access to school during this period)
- Providing 30 families with protective measures against Covid-19 virus such as masks, gloves, disinfectants etc.
- Supply 30 families with food and hygiene products.
- Providing children who are in the learning from home process with school material, mainly children with visual impairment.
- Providing 30 families with entertaining materials like table games, playing cards etc.
