– Description: World Vision Albania initiated innovative training for the local farmers and youth in Kurbin with the purpose of restoring, developing, and managing livestock and agricultural production. After thorough discussion with local farmers to assess needs and properties, the activities included: (i) providing agriculture and livestock equipment to 30 families; (ii) technical training for 25 farmers from the villages of Zheje, Fushe-Milot, and Gjorm; and (iii) entrepreneurship training for 60 youth to be able to better help their families with their agricultural business.

– Description: Vizion OJF repaired six houses that were heavily damaged by the Earthquake. All of the families were selected based on the extent of damage to their homes, their level of socioeconomic need, and the lack of financial assistance provided by government authorities. In all cases the funds were used for construction materials and labor costs. One family that was homeless was also furnished with a temporary mobile home. All of the work was coordinated with the local municipalities to ensure that work permits and construction standards were met. In the end, each family received between $4,000-$5,000 in assistance.

– Description: Thumane was the epicenter of the Albanian earthquake – many buildings were destroyed, uninhabitable and/or dangerous. New Vision in collaboration with the local authorities was able to find a building in relatively good condition to create a multifunctional youth center. Roughly half of the money was used to purchase materials, computers, and furniture, and to redesign the space for use as a Youth Center. The center opened in 2021 and included activities for youth such as training on “Community Engagement”, workshops within the “SafeNet” program on cyberbullying, Outdoors Ambassadors Tirana, and the Embassy Youth Council of the American Embassy in Tirana.

– Description: The Municipality of Kucova, in collaboration with GAF, was able to reconstruct an entire building previously unused by the Municipality and in need of extensive renovation. Two low-income families now live in this building. The building is expected to permanently house families in need in Kucova on a rotating basis at the discretion of the municipality. The main work included demolition, laying of concrete, repairing the roof and foundation, waterproofing, insulation, plastering, and cleaning and transport of waste to landfills.

– Description: Under this initiative, Vision OJF and the GAF created a Daycare Center for children in Fushe-Kruje to serve families that had been adversely impacted by the earthquake. The Daycare Center was equipped with furniture, office supplies, appliances, toys, books, and other educational materials. This project was originally planned to be done in Vore, but due to post-earthquake and Covid problems in Vore the location was switched to Fushe-Kruje so that a DayCare Center could be furnished.

– Description: Through this initiative we provided: (i) containers for 2 families which served as temporary housing for these two families displaced by the earthquake; (ii) food packages for 20 local families in need; and (iii) trainings for the 20 local families to deal with emotional trauma in their families due to the earthquake. The project also included a summer camp for 50 children from these families together with the volunteers who helped their families.
